Employer Criminal Record Searches

Once upon a time, it was difficult for employers to appraise the risk posed by any job applicant as it would be quite difficult to run a background check. Looking for a job applicant’s  criminal record  would involve a trip down to wherever police records are kept and weeks or perhaps months of waiting. If the applicant came from out of state, this would even be more difficult. As a result, not too many companies bothered with background checks and a great number of criminals were able to go into hiding.
